According to USDA's Weekly Cotton Summary, during the week ending Nov 6, 2008, net Upland sales of 134,000 running bales were down 45 percent from the previous week and 47 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for Indonesia (43,100 RB), Turkey (23,400 RB), China (20,400 RB, including 1,100 RB switched from Japan), Bangladesh (10,900 RB), and Peru (10,500 RB), were partially offset by decreases for Germany (27,500 RB), Vietnam (1,100 RB), and the United Kingdom (1,000 RB).
Exports of 221,700 RB were up 15 percent from the previous week, but down 1 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (76,700 RB), Mexico (34,400 RB), Turkey (29,200 RB), and Indonesia (13,600 RB).
Net American Pima sales of 200 RB were for Mexico. Exports of 2,200 RB were up 60 percent from the previous week, but down 31 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destination was Switzerland.
