The co-ordination officer at the fair was Mr. R.K Sharma, official, AEPC
AEPC participated in Magic Fair which was held from 24-27th August 2008 at: as Vegas, USA. The India pavilion was inaugurated by Mr. A.K Singh, Secretary (Textiles) on the 24th August 2008 in the presence of Mr. J. N Singh, Jt. Secretary (Textiles) along with Sh. H K L Magu, EC member, AEPC, Sh. Virender Uppal, EC Member, AEPC, Sh. A Sakthivel, EC Member, AEPC, Sh. Vijay Kumar Agarwal, EC Member , AEPC, Sh. Sanjiv Saran, Chairman, SRTEPC, Sh. Amit Rangrelia, Vice Chairman, SRTEPC. The co-ordination officer at the fair was Mr. R.K Sharma, Addl. Director, AEPC. The Indian pavilion consisted of 24 booths with the total no. of participants being 19 focussing on the ladies high fashion garments segment. The collection showcased by the participants at the Indian pavilion was highly appreciated by Chairman, AEPC and Chairman (EP). Secretary General, AEPC on his interaction with the participants was highly impressed on the onset of the fair.
The Indian Pavilion was well received by the buyers and the total business generated on the spot during the fair was $ 17,60,000. Other participating in the fair were Pakistan, China, Sri Lanka, Korea, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Turkey, Peru, Egypt and Mexico. The fair was attended by approx. 70,000 visitors/buyers during the 4 days fair.
The participants were satisfied with the location of the Indian pavilion and expressed desire in participating in the upcoming Magic fair also.
Workshop on Social Compliance held on 20th August’2008 at Club-15A ,Noida
Apparel Export Promotion Council & Noida Apparel Export Cluster has organized a workshop on Social compliance conducted by Mr. Venkat. H, Operation Manager, CSR, Intertek Testing Services, Gurgaon on 20th August’2008 at Sports & Cultural Club at Noida, Sector 15-A from 10.30.
Following dignitaries were present on the dais:
70 participants from leading export houses were registered for the said workshop and all of them actively participated in the interaction session with the special invitees from government departments like Mr. Manoranjan, Asstt. Commissioner, Provident fund, Mr. Sanjay Sinha, Joint Director, ESI. Shri Pritam Goel, Convenor, ATDC Northern Region and Shri Vijay Mathur, Deputy Secretary General, AEPC have given the assurance to provide full support to Noida cluster on behalf of AEPC. Shri Parveen Nayyar had raised the various queries on the issues of ESI and Provident fund in front of Govt. officials and started the open house discussions. In the technical session, the speaker defined the need for social compliance and its requirements e.g. child labour, forced labour, working hours, remunerations etc. he had shown various slides / photographs while explaining the above.
The effort made by Shri Lalit Thukral, President, NAEC for managing and organizing this workshop on Social compliance has set a new mile stone among the member exporters. They have appreciated the working of NAEC for conducting such type of workshops time to time with the joint efforts of AEPC.
The workshop was very useful to the member exporters and they have gathered the useful information regarding ESI, PF, and Social compliance.
