Brand Description

 

Aigle was established in 1853 by American Hiram Hutchinson. Hutchinson started his company in France as a means to promote and sell his revolutionary new rubber coats, shoes, and boots. He named his new company, "A' L'Aigle" as a tribute to the American symbol of freedom, the bald eagle.

 

Today, Aigle has matured into a global brand with over 125 stores world wide. In 2003, Aigle's global presence exploded when it signed an agreement with Dillard's Department Stores. This agreement established Aigle in the United States with the addition of over 325 Dillard's stores.

 

Aigle specializes in active and casual outdoor clothing. All Aigle products are designed to protect people from the elements as they engage in a variety of outdoor activities and are based on three common principles: quality, function, and gimmick-free elegance.

All AIGLE rubber footwear products are still handcrafted in Europe, using the best natural rubber available and a century+ long experi ence in the vulcanisation of rubber.

 

1853, Aigle revolutionised the world of footwear by using rubber as its core material for boot manufacture. Boots continue to be made by hand at Ingrandes, France near Châtellerault. From preparation through to finishing, each stage takes place under the watchful eye of specialists. Firstly, the natural rubber mix endows the boots with all of their characteristics (suppleness, waterproofness, sturdiness, comfort, etc.) Then the parts are assembled by hand on an aluminium last. The 3rd stage in the process involves vulcanisation of the boots in an autoclave at 140° to give them their definitive shape. Finally, each boot is carefully inspected to ensure that a high-performance.
